#26 RAP TAPES: Power

Power was my favorite shit ever at one point back in high school. "Girls L.G.B.N.A.F." and "Soul on Ice" and of course "Power" and "High Rollers", that was some different nonsense than rap had regularly back then, at least for a kid stuck in the eastern half of the world where, even in shitty little Farmville, Virginia, to be like New York was to be the ultimate. As time has passed, I'd say Ice-T's first record is easily my favorite, start to finish, and Power sort of annoys me at times, not standing the test of time of all, some of it is still great as shit. Actually, the goofy song I wrote last year called "The Horseshoe Hustler" which led to me getting "LOUNGIN'" tattooed across my beer belly, the style of that song was sort of created one week when I was listening to "Soul on Ice" like three times a day. I dig that slow story Rudy Ray Moore but not so corny style of rapping at times... it allows you to make thicker points and it's easy for a whiteboy's ear to follow as well. You know we can't understand all that jibba jabba shit.
