S14: Top 14 Scorers From Last Four SEC Tournaments

I do not pretend to care about the SEC too much. There really aren't any great programs there outside of Kentucky, because it's mostly football schools that get a good couple year runs in basketball at best. Nobody maintains that level of awesomeness. Nonetheless, a lot of quality ass deep south black dudes get their launching board towards fortune and fame in the SEC, and I fully support that. Plus, Richboy's "Just Bought a Cadillac" has been in my head all morning. Here are the fourteen dudes who scored the most points in the past four SEC tournaments...
#1: Charles Thomas (Arkansas forward; 113 points in SEC tourneys '06-'08) - Led Arkansas to the SEC title game his junior and senior seasons, and I've still never heard of him, probably because he has such a plain name. He went Uruguay to play for Atletico Bigua in 2008, then moved to Finland to forssan Koripojat in October, and then to KK Siroki Eronet in Bosnia finally in December, where he led that team toa Bosnian championship. Nowhe is in the Ukrainian Superleague, starring for Ferro-ZNTU Zaporozhye.
#2: Joe Crawford (Kentucky guard; 98 points in SEC tourneys '06-'08) - Crawford was a three-year starter for the Wildcats, through 2008, and since finishing his eligibility, was doing well with the Los Angeles Lakers during preseason, lighting it up, but was relegated to their D-League Los Angeles D-Fenders. He had a couple of 10-day contracts with the New York Knicks, but is back with the D-Fenders, I guess waiting for Kobe to start sharing the ball.
#3: Alonzo Gee (Alabama guard; 98 points in SEC tourneys '06-'09) - Alonzo is a Developmental League success story. After his four years in Alabama, all he got was drafted by the Austin Toros of the D-League. Well, he rolled down there, dominated, made the All-Star game, and then recently when the Washington Wizards dismantled their roster and needed to fill spots, he was one of the guys that got the gig. Now he's making Arab money.
#4: Sundiata Gaines (Georgia guard; 97 points in SEC tourneys '06-'08) - Sundiata Gaines was a solid player who at the end of his Senior season in 2008, single-handedly took the fuck over and willed Georgia into an SEC title, winning tourney MVP in the process. He played last year in Italy for NGC Cantu, and kicked it back here stateside with the Idaho Stampede of the D-League until January, when the Utah Jazz picked him up.
#5: Darian Townes (Arkansas forward/center; 96 poitns in SEC tourneys '06-'08) - Four-year roleplayer for the Razorbacks who, post collegiately, personifies journeyman blue collar player. Once again, let's run through his itinerary thus far... 2008: a couple of NBA workouts in June, played on the Sacramento Kings summer league team in Vegas, went to Poland to play for PGE Turow Zgorzelec. 2009: early in the year, leftPoland to play for the Erie Bay Hawks of the D-League. In May, signed to play for Leonces de Ponce in Puerto Rico, played in a Korean league summer camp in Las Vegas in July, as well as the NBA summer league in Orlando, ended up on GasTerra Flames Groningen in Holland, but in December once again came back to America to join the Utah Flash in the D-League. In And then just this month, he jumped from the Flash to the Iowa Energy.
#6: Randolph Morris (Kentucky forward/center; 94 points in SEC tourneys '06 and '07) - A big man with shooting range will always be appreciated by the NBA, and that's where he's been since leaving Kentucky early in 2007, first with the New York Knicks and now with the Atlanta Hawks.
#7: Wayne Chism (Tennessee forward; 94 points in SEC tourneys '07-'09) - Still in college; will speak upon him tomorrow.
#8: Tyler Smith (Tennessee forward; 94 points in SEC tourneys '08 and '09) - Played one year at Iowa, but then came to Tennessee to be part of that team that had like five dudes with the last name Smith. Now he is in Turkey, running shit for a team called Bornova.
#9: Tasmin Mitchell (LSU forward; 92 points in SEC tourneys '06-'09) - Still in college.
#10: Taurean Green (Florida guard; 91 points in SEC tourneys '06 and '07) - Green is the one member (other than whiteboy Lee Humphrey) of that fab five in Florida that won back-to-back national titles that didn't catch on in the NBA. He was with the Trailblazers, then went to the Nuggets and bounced between them and the D-League consistently on the fringe, and then got traded to the Knicks before last season started. Instead, he bolted to Europe, where he starred in the Spanish League, and this year he's running thangs at AEK Athens in the Greek League.
#11: Barry Stewart (Mississippi State guard; 91 points in SEC tourneys '07-'09) - Still in college.
#12: Sonny Weems (Arkansas guard/forward; 87 points in SEC tourneys '07 and '08) - Whoa, when he finished college he was drafted by the Harlem Globetrotters. I guess they draft motherfuckers they think would be appropriate. An NBA fringe element, also drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2008, traded to the Denver Nuggets, bounced between them and their D-League affiliate the Colorado 14ers. Then he was traded last summer to the Milwaukee Bucks, and then from them to the Toronto Raptors, where he helps hold the bench down.
#13: Corey Brewer (Florida forward; 86 points in SEC tourneys '06 and '07) - You know Corey Brewer, goofy looking dude with the big smile who was Final Four MVP during the Gators second title run, and now stars with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
#14: Shan Foster (Vanderbilt guard/forward; 86 points in SEC tourneys '06-'08) - Sugar Shan has taken his ridiculous three-point abilities to Europe, last year in Italy with Eldo Caserta, and this year in Turkey with Kepez Bld Antalya.
