SONG OF THE DAY: The Clown


This was on one of those Essential Soul albums I bought that came with digital download, and I played this fuckin’ song so damn much, I had to go out and find the actual 45. This is a fuckin’ jam and a half, and matches up sweetly with Los Yesterdays’ “Nobody’s Clown” and James & Bobby Purify’s “I’m Your Puppet”. I need to be working on more mixtapes, because sometimes I realize this type of shit is such a vibe, but it’s one I’m not sharing with the world and it gets overlooked. It's a lot of really wonderful vibes on this Earth that easily get overlooked. We got such a biodiversity of cultures, and yet all we ever see are the same ol' bouquets of basic cultural intelligences.

SONG OF THE DAY: Nobody's Clown (kudzu'd)


This has been heavy rotation the past six months around the dirtgod compound, both the regular speed and kudzu’d version. Such a great track. Regular speed is dope, most definitely, but slowed down it’s straight up windows down flying down a back road to nowhere type Friday afternoon when you ain’t got no work banger. I rank it five out of five burn barrels (meaning you got all five of them going at once).

SONG OF THE DAY: Smile (With Yo Gold)


“Smile Now Cry Later” the clown tattoos keep saying, but I can’t seem to hear them well enough to practice it. Maybe I need to get it tattooed into my own skin, with hobo clowns, to force the message into my body, making a stubborn goat-headed man finally see the light. “Smile Now Cry Later” as a mocking reminder in the mirror every morning, after spitting charcoal toothpaste into the sink, hobo clowns bastard faces reminding me that I never disappeared, and the frustrations of stuckness are unhacked weeds which grow into hawthorn bushes, prickly frustrating walls that get too high to navigate. Not enough machete swinging in my life, on neither the physical nor astral planes.
