SONG OF THE DAY: Longa

I don’t know how many of you watched Ramy, but man does Ramy piss me off. What a dumb fuck. I am thankful they took more time to make Ramy’s dad’s bald spot look more realistic the second season though. The first season it was just a straight around his head cut, unreal as fuck looking. Also, I’m hoping Ramy’s uncle gets a spinoff show where he becomes an independent wrestler in New Jersey.

World Cup Tanka: RUSSIA vs. EGYPT (Match 17)

Russia shockingly
had biggest win of first time
through group stage match-ups

geopolitics favor
denying metaphysics

Mo Salah's return
invigorates Egyptian
dreams of knockout stage

Salah such a special dude,
got me saying "inshallah"

in Salah I trust,
hoping for energetic
post-Ramadan strength

Salah is cat-like, toying
with these Russian defenders

Russia’s organized;
African football means kick
it ahead - attack

Egypt’s ball movement seem like
button combos you don’t know

a falling Fathi
own goal gifts Russia the lead;
Egypt finds their heels

on your heels no way to play,
and Russia scores a second

Dzyuba adds a third,
with a militaristic
salute afterwards

a fitting celebration
of Eurocentric tactics

the jihad’s been lost -
organized mechanistic
football beats spirit

will we ever have ourselves
another Maradona?

World Cup Tanka: EGYPT vs. URUGUAY (Match 2)

Salah's superstar
was dragged back to Earth by that
raw bastard Ramos

his availability
weighed heavy with nation's hopes

Uruguay has won
World Cup multiple times - but
has an aging squad

Luis Suarez remains the
footballing world's greatest heel

Salah begins match
on sidelines, with tons of hyped
Egyptians in stands

Uruguay is unbeaten
against Africa in Cup

one win and two draws,
but that one win... poor Ghana
in 2010

quarterfinal extended
remix in South Africa

the most heartbreaking
loss I've ever seen in sports...
that bastard Suarez

Egypt played with speed and heart,
continental vengeance

ultimately though,
death from 89th minute
Gimenez header

perhaps if that goal happened
earlier, we see Salah play

as it stands, Egypt
looked great without star player;
Uruguay was dull

but Uruguay got three points,
Pharoahs left thinking "what if?"
