(7s) Magazine Subscriptions Wanted #6 - Wax Poetics

Wax Poetics is an expensive fucking magazine, by the issue, and subscriptions don't shave any cost down. Wax Poetics takes itself serious as fuck, but to be honest, the articles and features are pretty great, especially if you are a record nerd or musician of any type, because it's a crate diggers magazine, and will often get deep into the production of a certain classic album or some fringe influential element of modern beatmade musics. An issue of Wax Poetics will occupy a few hour stint a few days in a row laid back on the couch, digging in deep. And if you are a musical type fucker of the modern beatmade musics, it's a good muse, to read about how warped Sly Stone was when he made There's a Riot Goin' On, or how many women Biz Markie used to pull at the old Latin Quarter, or how Cedgee and Scott La Rock pieced together Criminal Minded on a 4-track cassette recorder. Because if you're like me, your technology is probably lacking, and you're at the stage of whatever people are selling half broken at the flea market. But it's not the equipment but the individual's creativity that makes it happen. There's tons of dudes who always need one more piece of specific equipment to have what they need to make the perfect music, but there's always one more piece on the horizon to give them an excuse to hold back. Whereas I can run a cassette 4-track with two tracks broken through a USB turntable into a shitty $200 laptop half-stifled by porn and stolen music diseases and still do better than most assholes.
